Public health advocates held a meeting in Boyle Heights to address a widely perceived need for more information about insurance options. Residents met behind a local church to learn more about healthcare opportunities under a changing system, and traded definitions of health care. The conversations focused on prevention, holistic care, and cultural competence. “A lot of people were not informed that they had the right to medical insurance. I see people with significant medical needs who don’t have access to care, and their options are fairly limited.” The report is on Boyle Heights Beat.
