As a second-generation Vietnamese American, Jerry La has some experience with the trials of being a part of a culture that was brought to the United States because of a violent catalyst: the Vietnam War. He speaks about how his parents approached surviving after leaving everything they knew behind. “If you dwell in the past, you get nowhere.”
