Walking the line: reporting on protests and police response

At a forum UC Berkeley's Journalism School, journalists and law enforcement talked about the task of covering protests fairly. They compared the media reaction to violent versus nonviolent protests, like those after the decision not to indict the officers who killed Eric Garner. "Because there was nothing burning [in New York], there was nothing being broken, the reporters that were covering that story on CNN were actually having to talk about the issue and about what people were upset about." How should media report on fast-changing environments like protests and police response? See more in a video covering the event is on Richmond Pulse.https://vimeo.com/123996817
