Hospital’s closure will be ‘catastrophic,’ says ER nurse

Doctors Medical Center – which accounted for most of the hospital beds available of West Contra Costa County and the only emergency room in the area with the capacity to treat cardiac emergencies – is closing April 21.   The board of West Contra Costa Healthcare District finalized the decision after determining that the the hospital has exhausted opportunities to borrow additional funds. Emotions ran high at the public meetings about the hospital. “There are so many families out there that will be affected because of the lack of access if this hospital closes.” Read the story and reactions from a DMC employee who fought hard to keep the center open, on Richmond Pulse.
