Ceasefire walks, rain or shine

The Ceasefire Night Walk is a weekly trek through streets where gun violence has occurred in the hopes of putting an end to it.  Community members participating in the walk say the Ceasefire group has played a part in Richmond’s reduction in violent crime in recent years. The group’s strategy to end gun violence includes “call-ins” where parole officers meet one-on-one with perpetrators. "I left feeling overcome with emotion. I thought about peers who had been lost too soon and how senseless these deaths always are. Gun violence does not occur everywhere. We do not need it. It is hurting our community." Read more about Richmond’s slow and steady Ceasefire movement on Richmond Pulse.
