Building a bike culture in Richmond

Richmond's bicycling residents want to build a culture around biking, one that makes it as easy as possible to get around on wheels. In a city with a growing number of bike-friendly streets but few bike shops, Rich City Rides is an oasis for cyclists. The store is a 'community shop' and sells refurbished bikes for all ages, accessories, and supplies, as well as walk-in repairs. “When I first started one of the things I first noticed was that people in Richmond didn’t ride bikes. There was this perception that the only people that rode bikes were homeless folks and crack heads. People didn’t want to ride if they thought that was the perception. So I wanted to change the perspective and really allow folks to understand the benefits of riding bikes.” Read about it on Richmond Pulse.bike
