Candy flavors put e-cigarettes on the kids' menu

Electronic cigarettes, or "vape pens," may prove beneficial for some who want to quit tobacco but can't quit the nicotine.  But the vape pen sensation among minors raises alarms for public health experts, who haven't had the time to study the devices long-term.   They're easier to buy online - there is no federal age limit or FDA regulations - and come in a variety of candy flavors, which youth prefer to the taste of tobacco.  Cotton candy, cherry, vanilla, and gummy bears are only a few of the flavors that have sold adolescents and teens on the vape pen habit.  Listen to the story, which aired on NPR's Morning Edition, from Youth Radio.VapeRing-300x187
