Richmond and Chevron: a story of love and hate

The century-long relationship between the city of Richmond and Chevron Oil has been fraught with tensions over money, pollution, jobs, and governance.  Last summer’s explosion was only the latest incident to feed the furor from environmentalists in the local government, and sparked the ubiquitous questions about Chevron in Richmond:  Is the company paying its fair share in taxes?  Does the corporation wield undue influence over the city through its backers in government?  Read Edgardo Cervano-Soto’s piece on Richmond Pulse.
