Fifty years after Chavez, farmworkers' struggle continues

On the eve of Cesar Chavez’s birthday, the towns of Planada and LeGrand came together to celebrate the life of the Mexican-American icon. The kinds of struggles that mobilized Chavez are concentrated in the Central Valley, where the majority of the estimated 800,000 farmworkers in California live and work – and roughly 50 percent are undocumented. “The community in Planada embraces agricultural life. A lot of us come from farmworker families. We can relate to the struggles of our community members.” Activists and workers discuss the legacy of Chavez and the farmworkers' rights movement, on We'Ced.chavez
